This bit is ideal for starting young horses or for those which are sensitive in the mouth, as the eggbutt sides help to keep the bit central in the mouth and prevent rubbing. Like its larger cousin it has a thick mouth for a greater surface on the tongue and bars, providing comfort for the horse. The bradoon bit is usually used in conjunction with a weymouth and worn with a double bridle.
